Malouf recently announced that it has added three new 3D specialists to their marketing team. The team focuses on creating photo-realistic renderings of products, while constantly developing new skills, like 3D animation.
Current employee Riley Brown is the team’s lead 3D artist. New hire Jack Staley will act as 3D modeling specialist, which means building a product in 3D. Additional new hires Thiago De Sul and Jonatan Mercado are surfacing and lighting specialists, who work with an in-house set stylist to create the final scene by building rooms and props and adding different fabrics, textures, and lighting.
Riley Brown, lead 3D artist, said, “3D rendering is the perfect way to create high-quality assets and keep costs down. It’s an incredibly flexible way to showcase products, and we can quickly swap out environments to show product in many different styles and scenarios.”
Brown continued, “It’s been especially valuable during the pandemic. We’re able to visualize product much earlier, since the turnaround time for physical samples has been so altered in 2020.”
By focusing on 3D assets rather than relying solely on photography, the highly skilled Malouf team can create flexible, reusable, and cost-effective images that are often indistinguishable from photos. 3D renderings and animations have already proven advantageous to retail partners, with several used in new product videos and in a recent nationwide television campaign with a major retail partner in Canada.
Scott Carr, Malouf marketing director, noted, “We were able to spearhead a national campaign with Sleep Country to show off their custom program of protectors and pillows. We always like to push the envelope for what it means to be ‘good’ at marketing, and 3D rendering is a tool that truly serves all the needs of our retail partners.”
